Will ChatGPT replace Google search? (The vision of ChatGPT)
After the announcement that Microsoft is set to invest $10 billion in OpenAI to scale ChatGPT as part of a funding round that would value the company at $29 billion and more than 100 million users in three months, anyone can have the same question: Will ChatGPT replace Google search?
The first thing we should do is to ask directly to the own ChatGPT, and its answer was:
As an AI language model, my purpose is to assist and provide information to users through conversational interactions. While I am capable of answering questions and providing information, I am not designed to replace Google’s search engine.
Google’s search engine uses complex algorithms and machine learning techniques to index and rank web pages based on their relevance to a user’s search query. This allows Google to provide users with a diverse range of results, including web pages, images, videos, and other types of content.
In contrast, my capabilities are focused on conversational interactions and providing users with helpful responses to their questions or queries. While I may be able to provide answers to many types of questions, my abilities are different from those of a search engine.
Therefore, I don’t think that I will replace Google’s search engine, but rather complement it by providing additional assistance and support to users in their search for information.
There’s been a lot of chatter about ChatGPT replacing Google. Seeing its capabilities, it’s not surprising why a lot of people would think so. However, ChatGPT will not replace Google Search, or any search engine for that matter—at least not anytime soon.
The truth is that today ChatGPT can not crawl the web, and it can not index web pages like search engines like Google. Worst off, ChatGPT does not have real-time access to the internet, at least today. The current iteration of ChatGPT has a knowledge base cut-off date of 2021, but all the community is waiting for quick update. So, this means it would have no clue of any event that happened after that date. Anyway, Bing is incorporating ChatGPT to became one of the search engines to fight face to face with Google.

ChatGPT Stats and Facts Overview
Who is using OpenAI?
OpenAI is the technology behing ChaGPT. This company provides various AI tools and services to companies and organizations across different industries. However, the exact number of companies that are currently using OpenAI’s services is not public. OpenAI has stated that it has over 300 enterprise customers, including large corporations, startups, and government agencies, that use its AI technologies and services for various applications. Some of the well-known companies that have partnered with OpenAI include Microsoft, IBM, Amazon, GPT-3 API partners, and many others.
This company also provides access to its AI tools and services through its API platform, which allows developers to integrate its AI capabilities into their applications. The OpenAI API has gained popularity and has been used by various organizations and developers to create innovative products and solutions.
The AI race and what is comming in 2023?
GPT-4, the evolution
GPT-4 is the alleged name of the next pre-trained language model from OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research company that has previously released earlier versions of the model. GPT (2018), GPT-2 (2019), GPT-3 (2020), and GPT-3.5 (2022).
The capabilities of GPT-4 will be directly related to language. It is expected to be able to perform tasks such as text generation, summarization, automatic translation, answering complex questions, and much more with astonishing accuracy.
The most notable leap for the next version of GPT will come in the form of its ability to respond like a human. Its responses and interactions will be more precise and coherent, thus earning points when facing the Turing test.
OpenAI quietly launched GPT-3.5 in November 2022 with the release of ChatGPT. There’s no official roadmap for the arrival of GPT-4, or whatever OpenAI decides to call the evolution of the model, but TechCrunch notes that it could arrive sometime in 2023.
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) refers to the hypothetical development of intelligent machines that are capable of performing any intellectual task that a human can do. AGI aims to create artificial intelligence that can reason, learn, and understand any intellectual task in the same way that humans can.
Unlike specific AI systems that are designed to perform a particular task or set of tasks, AGI is intended to be a versatile and adaptable AI system that can handle a wide range of complex and novel tasks. An AGI system should be capable of applying the knowledge it has gained from one task to new situations, learning from experience, and understanding complex concepts.
AGI is still a theoretical concept, and there is currently no existing AGI system. The development of AGI is seen as the ultimate goal of artificial intelligence research, but it also presents significant technical and ethical challenges, as well as concerns about its impact on society.
The Race
And the race have just started, lest see the status of the Open AI-Race just during February 2023:
💥Google has launched Bard
💥 Mark Zuckerberg Unveils LLaMA, Meta’s Powerful New Large Language Model
💥 Amazon announced its alliance with Hugging Face, competitor of ChatGPT
But this is just the beginning, as there will be more surprises in the next months. Without a doubt, the 2023 will be the year that the AI really started to change our live forever. Meanwhile, enjoy the AI, enjoy all you can do with ChatGPT.
